Hello and Goodbye

It is with great sorrow that I say goodbye to blogger and move forward to wordpress. Why? Wordpress simply offers more user features...the new blogger is improved but not nearly enough. I am sad because Blogger is where I "cut my teeth" on blogging. But it is time for something better, loyalty is not enough when its free and their product offers more. I am not deleting this blog because it is home to the World's Largest IHOP-KC Blogroll. My new site won't have a full list yet.

I may occassional post here but hope that all of you will visit my new blog and Subscribe to the RSS Feed. If I am listed on your blogroll please update the link.

HeavenQuake…

There was a high magnitude quake in the evangelistic spiritual realm over Chicago today. At its epicenter was the passing away of one of the finest evangelists I have ever known.

I first heard the name of Lois Peterson disdainfully–almost as if the speaker was spitting. She was not popular among the old guard at my church....

Yet it was the power of God. I would estimate that thousands of seekers found what they sought in that basement. From the ranks of druggies and addicts sprang forth pastors and missionaries and church leaders. A race of grace-oriented newbies populated churches and filled Sunday school classes throughout the land. The number of pastors who first met Jesus in Lois’ class has to be in the dozens.

After Lois finished teaching, it was time to “move in.” That meant that us veterans would strike up a conversation with strangers at our table, and–sipping coffee, and breathing their tar and nicotine–gently open a door to Jesus. Okay, sometimes not so gently. We did what we had to do: ardent for Jesus, and I must confess, for the smile and approval of Lois.

There was not a church in town that didn’t have some of Lois’ converts helping out in ministry. How the devil hated her. Week after week, somebody “got saved”–a phrase I still use and always will, even though our postmodern friends don’t like it. I want people to get saved, and if your ministry doesn’t get people saved, it isn’t Christian.

I had a great conversation with some friends a few days ago. One of the women was talking about her old job. She left that position to pursue her dream. I don't exactly remember what she used to do, but they replaced her old position with a vending machine. I'm glad she left her job. She was designed for so much more.

How are you investing your life?

Is it what you were designed to do?

Are you fulfilled?

Do you enjoy the people around you?

Do they help bring the best out of you?

Do you bring the best out of them?

Do you have enough financial resources to contribute to God's work and support your family?

What lasting impact are you making?

Life is short. Just wanted to make sure you realized that sometimes you have to make the move. Sometimes God doesn't fully reveal his will until you take the first step (Joshua 3:14-17).

Fission or Fusion Which Are You?

Fission is power by separating/dividing the Atoms (think Adam) it is unstable – toxic waste that never goes away. It requires great controls in order to be handled safely. Because of the controls required it is a “limited” power. Fission is similar to religion in that it requires a spirit of “control.” Fission is man trying to rejoin himself to God...this happens in the protestant church too! Its not just have right doctrine its having correct application too.

Fusion is power like that found in the Sun and stars. It is a joining of one element with another. No toxic waste is produced. When it stops it stops. (no meltdown). It is more powerful than fission powers because it does not require the controlled environment. Fusion is what Jesus is talking about in John Chapter 15. Fusion is what He is praying for when He says: "That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I in You; that they also may be one in Us..."

Yes, it's true: If you are old enough to do mathematics and you like chocolate, you might be able to figure out your age. By crunching these numbers (including the weekly frequency of your preference for chocolate), your age is mathematically revealed.

This is totally off topic but it makes me look smart so I decided to post it. Try it out to see for yourself.

Steps

Determine how many times a week you eat or want chocolate. It must be a number between 1 and 10, including 1 or 10.

Let's say you eat chocolate 8 times a week (we won't tell).
Multiply that number by 2.

8 x 2 = 16

Add 5 to the previous result.

16 + 5 = 21

Multiply that by 50.

21 x 50 = 1050

Add the current year (Gregorian).

1050 + 2007 = 3057

Subtract 250 if you've had a birthday this year. If you haven't had a birthday this year, subtract 251.

Let's say your birthday hasn't passed yet.

3057 - 251 = 2806

Subtract your birth year.

Assuming you were born in 1975...

2806 - 1975 = 831

You'll end up with a 3 or 4 digit number. The last two digits are your age (if you're under 10 years old there will be a zero before your age). The remaining one or two digits will be the number of times per week you eat or want chocolate (the number you specified in the first step).

Pastors tell congregations in tornado-torn Kansas town not to fear future

GREENSBURG, Kan. (AP) — Church leaders on Sunday told more than 3,000 residents, volunteers and disaster workers gathered in this tornado-ravaged community they should not fear the future because God was with them.

The non-denominational service marked the first time the congregations have worshipped in Greensburg since a May 4 tornado destroyed more than 90% of the south-central Kansas town and killed nine people.

Tears and hugs were common as many residents saw each other for the first time since the tornado. Volunteers passed out flowers to mothers in honor of Mother's Day.

"We are a scattered, dispersed community. But the Lord Jesus is our redeemer and is with us. 'Do not fear for I am with you,' says the Lord," said Rev. Gene McIntosh, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Greensburg.

Tim Henning, pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Greensburg, likened the city's plight to that of Job in the Bible, whom God tested by taking away everything he loved but who kept his faith through it all: "We are like him, we lost everything," he said. Read it all Here!

Hamas militants have enlisted a figure bearing a strong resemblance to Mickey Mouse to broadcast their message of Islamic domination and armed resistance to their most impressionable audience children.

A giant black-and-white rodent _ named 'Farfour,' or 'butterfly,' but unmistakably a rip-off of the Disney character _ does his high-pitched preaching against the U.S. and Israel on a children's show each Friday on Al-Aqsa TV, a station run by Hamas. The militant group, sworn to Israel's destruction, shares power in the Palestinian government.

'You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists,' Farfour squeaked on a recent episode of the show, which is called 'Tomorrow's Pioneers.'

'We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusa lem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers.'

Children call in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.
Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli organization that monitors Palestinian media, said the Mickey Mouse lookalike takes 'every opportunity to indoctrinate young viewers with teachings of Islamic supremacy, hatred of Israel and the U.S., and support of 'resistance,' the Palestinian euphemism for terror.'

Israeli officials denounced the program Tuesday.

David Baker, an official in Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office, said 'there is nothing comic about inciting young generations of Palestinians to hate Israelis.'

A spokeswoman from Walt Disney Co.'s headquarters in Burbank, Calif., did not immediately return messages asking for comment about the use of the Disney-like character.

Yehia Moussa, a Hamas leader in the movement's Gaza Strip base, denied inciting children against Jews. 'Our problem is not with the Jews. Our problem is with the (Israeli) occupation and the occupiers,' he said.

The television station would not comment.

A Gaza-based psychologist said the program proved that the culture of glorifying violence had penetrated mainstream society in the Palestinian territories, where dreams of Islamic dominion and animosity toward the U.S. and Israel are widespread.

'It's the fault of both (Israel and the Palestinians),' said Samir Zakkout, of the Gaza Community Mental Health Program. 'There's been a collapse of values. If I can kill my enemy, I can kill my brother.'

The program is opposed by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corp., which is controlled by Hamas' political rival _ the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

'I don't think it's professional or even humane to use children in such harsh political programs,' said Basem Abu Sumaya, head of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corp. 'Children's nationalist spirit must be developed differently.'

Hamas loyalists launched the Al Aqsa satellite channel last year. Bearded young men read the news and Islamic music is layered over footage of masked militants firing rockets into Israel. The channel also broadcasts talk shows, programs about the disabled and cartoons.

In addition, Hamas loyalists run at least five news Web sites, one newspaper launched just last week and a radio station.

Friends,

Tonight a Muslim friend of mine told me about her daughter who is in the USA studying and has been attending a Christian church while in the USA. Her daughter told her that she nowunderstands the difference between churches & mosques.

She said in mosques you are forced to believe and you must do all you are told or you will be punished by Allah. Fear of punishment and knowing that "you should do this and that" is the motivation. She said they shout and say, "We must be violent! We have enemies! We must destroy them!"

She said in churches they speak softly to God, like a real relationship, and everything they do for Him is because their hearts love Him. They love Him, so they believe Him and obey Him. They even teach to love your enemies.

She told her mother that she now believes that the way of love is the true way of God and it's not right what the Muslims teach about violence and hatred. Her daughter also had 2 dreams where Yeshua appeared to her.

In one of the dreams Yeshua asked her to marry Him and she said "yes." Her heart has fallen in love with Yeshua.Please pray for my Muslim friend and her whole family to be led into the heart of the Bridegroom God.

Not only does the world not know Him, they've crafted a Jesus in their own image. Many of the things they've said about Christians is true, because for the most part the Church in the West is made up of converts not disciples.

Orange Mocha at St. Arbucks

Am I the only one who thinks the idea of an "Orange Mocha" is gross! What are the good folks at St. Arbucks thinking these days? An orange creme frappuccino is fine think of orangecicle or orange creme soda. But orange mocha...NOT! This is a genetic mutation gone a muck. Orange and coffee and chocolate do not mix together in the same drink. It is an unnatural combination, worse than polyester (plastic and fabric is so wrong!) So has anyone tried it yet and am I wrong!

I read Leonard Jones' Blog regularly and wanted to share this testimony. God is so good. I am so in love with You...Jesus. The stuff is real the reason we don't see more of it is because we fail to ask or we quit asking when we appear to fail!

"We rode over to Franklin, North Carolina on Monday and tried to check into the Comfort Inn. I kept ringing the bell and no one came. Finally, a girl came out with tears in her eyes and said she had some kind of bladder infection. I make it a habit to pray for people that come right out and say they are sick, no matter who is around. So I asked if we could pray for her, much to the surprise of the people waiting to check in. Chuck Mervin and I laid hands on her and God healed her. It seems that the gospel works better outside of church meetings. Although I absolutely love to meet together with other believers, and worship and hear the Word, it seems that the signs and wonders come easier outside. LEO"

Enterprising young athiests have finally decided to stop resisting the Church and begin exploiting the faithful for profit. Those that subscribe to the "Left Behind" series can now sign up for the Post-Rapture Post. I think its funny but they are serious. Here is what they say:

Taking Outreach Lessons From Denny's

I love what Denny's restaurant is doing to try and attract the college crowd, via Nation's Restaurant News (subscription required):

Denny's plan is to become a "social gathering" place for students who want to study for exams or meet with friends over a sit-down meal instead of grabbing a quick burger at a fast-food drive-thru, Polydoroff said.

To lure them in during the promotion, Denny's is offering meal deals because students are on a budget, he said, and using free Wi-Fi , text messages and banner ads on Facebook to communicate with students because they are heavy users of those media.

"It's pretty new and significant for us," Polydoroff said. "We never did text messaging before."
Marketing support also includes direct mail, coupons and ads in college newspapers.

Denny's is striving to communicate to their desired customers in a way that those people can understand. This is the business world's attempt at 'meeting people where they are at.' Younger generations of people are more and more entrenched in the world of technological conversation and expertise.

Are our churches keeping up? How are those of us in ministry using the communication tools of technology to connect with people in their congregations? I know that some churches are taking advantage of today's technology in communicating the Gospel, but I think this kind of thinking needs to become even more prevalent.

Shuckling:from the Yiddish word meaning "to shake" (also written as shokeling) is the ritual swaying of Jewish worshippers during prayer, usually forward and back but also from side to side. This practice can be traced back to at least the eighth century, and possibly as far back as Talmudic times. It is believed to increase concentration and emotional intensity (Eisenberg 2004:360). In Chassidic lore, shuckeling is seen as an expression of the soul's desire to abandon the body and reunite itself with its source, similar to a flame's shaking back and forth as if to free itself from the wick (Tanya chapter 19).

Many Jews shuckel while engaged in anything requiring focus and concentration or extreme seriousness, even mundane activities.

The 12th century Jewish philosopher and poet Yehuda Halevi wrote that the habit began as a result of a shortage of books, forcing people to hover over a single codex laid on the ground, each one bending in turn to read a passage (The Kuzari, part II, para. 80).

New "Rapture Ready" Public Service Announcements Hit Airwaves

For Fellowship Church of God in Little Rock "community outreach" means more than just helping people right now; it also means helping them for the future. About four months ago the church was looking for new ways to reach out to the surrounding community when a phrase on a t-shirt gave them the idea.

"I saw a woman wearing a shirt one day that said 'If the rapture happens, you can have my shirt.'" Said Chris Koister, the church's pastor. "That just gave me a wonderful idea. We need to be teaching people what they need to do in case they get left behind."

So several members of the church got together with Koister and formulated a plan to inform the non-Christian community what to do in case the Rapture occurs. The plan includes a series of public service radio announcements that address different subjects such as How to Avoid Out of Control Cars, What to Do with All of Those Extra Clothes and How to Fly an Airplane, the script of which states,

"In the event you find yourself aboard a large passenger jet in which the pilot and co-pilot have been raptured, do not panic! The first thing you will want to do is see if there are any other pilots on board the aircraft. While a professional pilot familiar with commercial aircrafts is preferred, any pilot with limited experience is acceptable. If no pilot is available be sure to make contact with the nearest air traffic control tower and they will assist you in landing the plane safely. It, IS, however, extremely important that you get through this situation alive as your being left behind is indicative of the peril of your soul."

While the church has been extremely pleased with the quality of the announcements, people in the Little Rock community have not taken favorably to them.

"These radio announcements are absolutely absurd." Said Carol Hampton, one angry listener. "I was driving the other day and I heard this message about what to do if a car starts driving towards me out of control because of the rapture. I thought it was a joke at first then I heard the tag line that this was a public service announcement from some church."

"We've received a number of calls complaining about the adds." Said Koister. "We may have gone a little too far with a couple of them perhaps. In the plane one we have a bunch of people at the beginning screaming in terror as the plane swerves out of control. We might have to tone them down a bit."

But despite the criticism, Koister says his church still plans to expand their ministry to those who will be left behind."We really want to put in a driving track out back and teach people how to avoid all of those out-of-control cars that will be zipping around out there." Said Koister. "We're just here to help the community."

A letter to the Global Church from The Protestant Church of Smyrna

Dear friends,

This past week has been filled with much sorrow. Many of you have heard by now of our devastating loss here in an event that took place in Malatya, a Turkish province 300 miles northeast of Antioch, the city where believers were first called Christians (Acts 11:26).
On Wednesday morning, April 18, 2007, 46 year old German missionary and father of three Tilman Geske prepared to go to his office, kissing his wife goodbye taking a moment to hug his son and give him the priceless memory, "Goodbye, son. I love you."

Tilman rented an office space from Zirve Publishing where he was preparing notes for the new Turkish Study Bible. Zirve was also the location of the Malatya Evangelist Church office. A ministry of the church, Zirve prints and distributes Christian literature to Malatya and nearby cities in Eastern Turkey. In another area of town, 35 year old Pastor Necati Aydin, father of two, said goodbye to his wife, leaving for the office as well. They had a morning Bible Study and prayer meeting that some other believers in town would also be attending. Ugur Yuksel likewise made his way to the Bible study.

None of these three men knew that what awaited them at the Bible study was the ultimate testing and application of their faith, which would conclude with their entrance into glory to receive their crown of righteousness from Christ and honor from all the saints awaiting them in the Lord's presence.

On the other side of town, ten young men all under 20 years old put into place final arrangements for their ultimate act of faith, living out their love for Allah and hatred of infidels who they felt undermined Islam.

On Resurrection Sunday, five of these men had been to a by-invitation-only evangelistic service that Pastor Necati and his men had arranged at a hotel conference room in the city. The men were known to the believers as "seekers." No one knows what happened in the hearts of those men as they listened to the gospel. Were they touched by the Holy Spirit? Were they convicted of sin? Did they hear the gospel in their heart of hearts? Today we only have the beginning of their story.

These young men, one of whom is the son of a mayor in the Province of Malatya, are part of a tarikat, or a group of "faithful believers" in Islam. Tarikat membership is highly respected here; it's like a fraternity membership. In fact, it is said that no one can get into public office without membership in a tarikat. These young men all lived in the same dorm, all preparing for university entrance exams.

The young men got guns, bread knives, ropes and towels ready for their final act of service to Allah. They knew there would be a lot of blood. They arrived in time for the Bible Study, around 10 o'clock.

They arrived, and apparently the Bible Study began. Reportedly, after Necati read a chapter from the Bible the assault began. The boys tied Ugur, Necati, and Tilman's hands and feet to chairs and as they videoed their work on their cellphones, they tortured our brothers for almost three hours*

Believe it or not, the word hero never comes up in the NT. But the word saint occurs over 60 times. And here's the really interesting thing-- it always in the plural! Piper Says It Well...I Won't Editorialize

Every deadly calamity is a merciful call from God for the living to repent. “Weep with those who weep,” the Bible says. Yes, but let us also weep for our own rebellion against the living God. Lesson one: weep for the dead. Lesson two: weep for yourselves.

Every deadly calamity is a merciful call from God for the living to repent. That was Jesus’ stunning statement to those who brought him news of calamity. The tower of Siloam had fallen, and 18 people were crushed. What about this, Jesus? they asked. He answered, “Do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:4-5).

The point of every deadly calamity is this: Repent. Let our hearts be broken that God means so little to us. Grieve that he is a whipping boy to be blamed for pain, but not praised for pleasure. Lament that he makes headlines only when man mocks his power, but no headlines for ten thousand days of wrath withheld. Let us rend our hearts that we love life more than we love Jesus Christ. Let us cast ourselves on the mercy of our Maker. He offers it through the death and resurrection of his Son.

This is the point of all pleasure and all pain. Pleasure says: “God is like this, only better; don’t make an idol out of me. I only point to him.” Pain says: “What sin deserves is like this, only worse; don’t take offense at me. I am a merciful warning.”

David Hart, writing in the Wall Street Journal, ... pronounces: “No Christian is licensed to utter odious banalities about God’s inscrutable counsels or blasphemous suggestions that all this mysteriously serves God’s good ends.”

These responses are foreseen in Scripture: “I killed your young men with the sword ... yet you did not return to me, declares the Lord” (Amos 4:10). “They cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory” (Revelation 16:9).
Contrary to Hart’s pronouncement, the Christian Scriptures do indeed license us to speak of God’s “inscrutable counsels” and how he works in all things for mysterious good ends. To call this banal and blasphemous is like a bird calling the wind under its wing wicked.

Jesus said that the minutest event in nature is under the control of God. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father” (Matthew 10:29). He said this to give hope to those who would be killed for his name.
He himself stood on the sea and stopped the waves with a single word (Mark 4:39). Even if Nature or Satan unleashed the deadly tidal wave, one word from Jesus would have stopped it. He did not speak it. This means there is design in this suffering. And all his designs are wise and just and good.

One of his designs is my repentance. Therefore I will not put God on trial. I am on trial.... Come. Repentance is a good place to be.

Awesome Testimony From Josh Constable

Do not have long, but wanted to update everyone what is going on with me and what miracle God has performed again. I rode up to Chicago with the team going to Africa with only $200 I needed for the trip, which left me close to $3,000 short. The leadership of the team was allowing me to travel with my packed suitcases and no money or plane ticket for that matter. By the time arriving in Chicago, the money had NOT yet come in so I had to tel the team bye and head back in the van to Indianapolis with the driver.

Upon being gone from the airport and wondering what the Lord was doing and how I "Missed Hearing Him on this one" and discussing with the van driver what God was teaching me, van driver received a phone call from the leader of our trip 15-20 minutes later and he said "Bring Joshua back, the money just got provided for him and he is going with us..." Praise to the name of Jesus! This was NOT a 11th hour, or a 11:59 minute situation, this was a 12:01 moment!!! I was in tears of how God did it again and really moved on the situation to bring me to where He called me forth to in Africa.

I will share more details later after 17 hours in Germany, and than arrived in Ethiopia for a 10 hour layover and then on a plane to Sudan...where we were deported (details later), and went onto Egypt and then back to Ethiopia where we have been last couple of days. We will be heading out Mon. to Djibouti for a week before heading back to America.

This is brief but I will share details later when have more time or when I get back in America on May 2 or 3. Depending how much sleep I need since we have been lacking between airport stays and airplanes. We have been tested greatly as a team, but it is amazing watching what the Lord Jesus is doing in this time.

Please keep our team in prayer and for me personally on what the Lord has for me upon my return to America, as the Lord is opening some doors for me and I am not sure what He has me to go through. Thank you all. Be blessed in Jesus name!

No It Wasn't Just A Nightmare...It Really Happened!

They are more than just nameless/faceless people. They are daughters, sons, husbands, wives, a grandfather and holocaust survivor. They are image bearers...created in the Image of God...their lives snuffed out prematurely by evil. The New York time has a page with pictures and biographies of these real people.

Why do we pray? Why a 24/7 House of Prayer? Isn't this a bit extreme, doesn't Jesus want us to be normal and fit into society? No, he wants us to be rescue you personnel sent from His Kingdom to reach as many as will say Yes to His offer of LIFE! We pray because our prayers are effective and hold back darkness. As more is learned about this killer and his profile, we must ask ourselves why aren't there more of these attacks? I belive it is because our prayers (believers all over the world) restrain evil and influences people to restrain wickedness.

Today as you pray remember these families and pray for those in your neighborhood, office, school, or jobsite that might "snap"...pray they will respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and change. Pray that the seducing voice of the "Accuser", "The Liar" "The Deciever" will be diminished.

Pray also for the Family of this murderer! How terrible their pain, loss, and grief is this day! Lift them up. Oh, that someday family members of victims could show compassion and forgivness to these victims also, just as the Amish did when their children were murdered at school.

Lord, cause your church to rise up and be the church. Fill us with the life of your Word and the Power of Your Spirit that we may have something of true value to give the world aroung us. Father cause us to realize the power of our prayers though they seem weak to us they are mighty in the Spirit Realm. Give a hunger, desire, and passion to pray in the heart of all Christ-Followers.

Islamic faith healers condemn 'charlatans'

ABU DHABI (AFP) - Witch doctors have "soiled the image of Islam" by prescribing harmful treatments in the guise of faith healing, according to Muslim clerics and doctors who gathered in Abu Dhabi to affirm the healing powers of the Koran.

Delegates agreed that the Koran has healing powers, with some going so far as to claim that the holy book can cure AIDS' and some forms of cancer.

Sheikh Jallul Hajimi, an official in the Algerian ministry of religious affairs, told AFP he had cured "Europeans suffering from mental and sexual illnesses that psychologists and neurologists had failed to treat."

"More than 400 people have converted to Islam after receiving Koranic medical treatments," added his colleague, Sheikh Abu Muslim Balhamr.

Church Replaces "Amen"
ATLANTA, GEORGIA

"Times are changing and so are we."

That's the opinion of Mark Levy, pastor of Fresh Winds Church of God. For some time now Levy's church of 500 has moved away from many of the traditional elements of worship into new approaches. One of those approaches is doing away with the word "amen" and replacing it with a new more "relevant" phrase - "boo-yeah."

"We're here to worship today, boo-yeah?" Levy enthusiastically asks his congregation. "Boo-Yeah!" they all respond in unison.

Throughout the church's worship time "amen" is consistently replaced. Praise and Worship songs are changed. After prayers the one praying will say "And all God's people said..." to which the congregation replies appropriately. "Amen" is even replaced in the Scripture readings Levy uses.

As Levy begins his sermon Deuteronomy 27:16 appears on the church's overhead projector;

"Cursed is the man who dishonors his father or his mother." Then all the people shall say, "Boo-Yeah!"

"We're just keeping with the times." Said Levy. "The word 'amen' has become so old and outdated. People don't want to walk around saying 'amen' anymore. We need something that really grabs people's attention, something powerful. I truly think that 'boo-yeah' is our own modern day 'amen.'(Thanks Tom)

Coffee shop pulling Moroni advertisements

But owners plan to sell shirts with LDS trademark for now

TAYLORSVILLE — The two men making lattes and cappuccinos at Just Add Coffee simply smile and shrug when patrons ask about the official-looking letter displayed on the counter.

"We kinda got in trouble," explains Ed Beazer, co-owner of the shop.

The letter is from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, specifically its intellectual-property office, and takes issue with an advertising campaign for the coffeehouse that spoofs an LDS Church trademark.

T-shirts being sold at the coffee shop feature an image of the angel Moroni, the golden statue of a male figure in a robe blowing a trumpet that sits atop many LDS temples. In the Just Add Coffee version, Moroni's trumpet is angled upward as coffee from a pot is poured into it.

"It was a spoof," Beazer said. "It was meant to be fun."

It apparently didn't amuse the LDS Church, whose members are discouraged from drinking coffee.

In a letter sent to Beazer's home last week, the shop owner was informed that the image of Moroni is a registered trademark of the LDS Church. The letter also requested that Just Add Coffee discontinue use of the image in advertising campaigns.

The locally owned coffee shop at 5578 S. Redwood Road began featuring the image on greeting cards about a year ago, and at the request of patrons, started featuring it on T-shirts just before Christmas.

Beazer said he and co-owner Van Lidell were not aware that the image was a trademark until last week. The church took issue with the image after it appeared in a newspaper ad on March 9.

At the request of the LDS Church, Beazer said, Just Add Coffee has pulled newspaper ads with the image.

"We're not out to hurt anyone," Beazer said. "We're not out to be mean or spiteful."

But they're not ready to quit selling the T-shirts, either.

"They've been the best-selling T-shirts we've ever done," Beazer said.

Attorneys for Just Add Coffee have sent a letter to church officials to inform them of the shirts and request that the shop owners be sent proof of the trademark.

"If they provide proof, we're going to comply," Beazer said. "We don't want to break any laws or anything."

Church spokesman Scott Trotter confirmed to the Deseret Morning News on Thursday that the image is an LDS Church trademark.

In the meantime, the coffee-drinking Moroni shirts will remain on sale, the owners said.

The shirts come in several sizes and colors and feature the Just Add Coffee logo on the front, with the Moroni image on the back. Short-sleeve shirts cost $9.95, and the long-sleeve version runs $12.95.

"We don't know if we're going to be able to sell them much longer," Lidell said, "so this might be the last chance for people to get them."

I am still alive as you can imagine this is a very old picture of me! The only other clue I'll give you is that I Pastor a little church on the East Coast. "A gospel is being preached that is withering everything that is in sight. Everything that is green and Godly and pure is being withered. The seed is rotten - there is a famine of hearing the pure Word of the Lord.... there is no pasture. The flocks are desolate and hungry. The rivers are drying up. A strange fire is devouring the pastors. Ezekiel says that Shepherds are trampling down the good pasture and eating the best for themselves. What are the shameful disgraceful things that are happening in the Church of Jesus Christ today?"

Is He Weeping Over Me?

I was in a PRT briefing meeting when he called. I discreetly excused myself to see if my son was alright. There isn't a meeting on this earth that my wife and kids can't call if they need me. The trembling voice on the other end of the phone said, "I miss you daddy!" I told him I missed him too and would see him after school. That's too long Daddy. You need to quit school and the Prayer Room and come home...now!I explained if I wasn't doing those things, something else would be filling my day too.

All the time his sincere voice was full of longing and missing me. He wasn't sick, tired, or bored...the longing of his heart was to be with his Dad.We had played the night before, went to the library together so it wasn't as though I hadn't been around or interacting. The reality was that didn't matter in this moment he missed me. I assured him we woud play after school today.
Yvette got on the phone and said he woke up that morning feeling good. When she came out of the bathroom she found Zach on our bed holding my pillow and sobbing, saying I miss my Daddy, I want my Daddy...so she let him call and I answered the phone.

Of course he had my heart!

Is it obvious why I am sharing this personal story? Afterwards the Lord pierced my heart with His longing for me. Remember Jesus weeping over Israel? He weeps over all of us, even believers, when we choose lesser things over time with Him. Conversely, when we spend time fellowshiping with Him, His heart overflows with Joy.

Around IHOP we are all aware of Song of Songs and that one of its applications is Christ as the Bridegroom and belivers as the Bride. We know God's heart is stirred when we spend time with Him. I don't want Him to weep over me! I can stir His heart.

In the begining...before Seattle brought you such greats as Boeing, JP-Patches,Red Robin, Starbucks, ChriS, Mirco-Soft, or Dick's Drive In There is simply not a better greasy fast-food burger on the planet! The hand-cut fries are phenomenal. The price is cheap. Yes, in Seattle visit all of the tourist spots...but eat where all of the locals do a Special or Deluxe! Dick stopped expansion at five restaurants. Why? To keep quality up, make a good living and still have time with the family. It seemed like a good idea till I relocated to IHOP-Kansas City! I've got a cravin for those greasy fries. They are hand-cut with the skin still on! The best! McDonald's has nothing on them! Not even close!

So I am sure I am not the only person who misses their favorite food from home! What is it for you! Don't get me started on IVAR's!

The blogging world is congested. Some have tried to limit their blog rolls to people they know personally, blogs they think are the "bomb", or teachers the think are the greatest. Yet if I only share with you those who "I approve of" I could miss promoting God's person of the hour. After all he usually prefers the foolish to confound the wise. So if I am looking for the wise, I might miss his foolish vessel. My take: hey high light them all...who knows who God will use one day. Maybe today. So I currently have the largest IHOP & Friends of IHOP Blog Roll. Do I read them all or even agree with them all...no way.
